Our Advanced Agriculture program at the Limestone County Career Technical Center is helping the Athens-Limestone Beautification Board get our downtown ready for spring and summer. They’ve spent the last several days prepping the pots downtown with self waterers, top soil, and fresh flowers.

Our Limestone County Student Senate group traveled to Montgomery Tuesday as part of the Athens-Limestone County Chamber of Commerce Montgomery Drive-In.
The group met with Representatives Danny Crawford, Andy Whitt, Parker Moore, Philip Rigsby, Senator Arthur Orr, and Senator Larry Stutts, along with several other government agency leaders. In addition, students also toured the State Capital.

KICKS FOR KIDS: What an amazing day for our students at Tanner Elementary School!
Every student received a FREE pair of sneakers and 5 pairs of socks, courtesy of Listerhill's Kicks for Kids Shoe Drop!
Listerhill Foundation hopes that one new pair of shoes can provide many benefits such as increased self-esteem, physical activity, attendance, positive behavior, classroom engagement, and more.
This special program celebrates students and encourages success. Listerhill partners with the California-based organization, Shoes That Fit, who has provided over 2 million pairs of shoes to children across the US since 1992.
We are so incredibly grateful to Listerhill Credit Union and Listerhill Foundation for this wonderful opportunity for our students!

ENDLESS OPPORTUNITIES: Seniors from across the district had the chance to engage with local business and industry leaders Wednesday as part of the Blaze Your Own Path Career Fair Expo at Ingalls Harbor in Decatur. While there, they were enlightened about the jobs and opportunities that await them after high school.

Our 11th grade students across the district traveled to Calhoun this week to meet John Baylor from OnToCollege, a platform used by our students for ACT prep. Meeting Baylor allowed our students the opportunity to gain expert insights into the ACT process, including rest prep strategies, application tips, and time management skills ahead of the upcoming ACT in March.

LIFE SKILLS 101: Seniors at Ardmore High School may still be months away from graduation, but on Monday they spent the morning preparing for life after high school.
As part of Senior Professional Day at the school, the group participated in round-table sessions with teachers and members of the community. Sessions included mock interviews, vehicle maintenance, basic first aid, tie tying, self-defense, finance 101, and traffic stop 101.

UNIFIED: It was a cold start to the school day Friday morning, but inside the gym at Ardmore High School , nearly two dozen students were about to warm the hearts of many.
With their Tiger jerseys on, music blaring, and ready for tip-off, students in Kaitlin Sparkman’s special education class rallied around their coach for one final pep-talk before game time.
“Let’s go!,” one student shouted.
Then, the buzzer sounded, and it was time for Sparkman’s Unified basketball team to hit the court for a friendly game of basketball against their peers from Hazel Green.
The best part? Both inclusive basketball teams consisted of students with special needs or disabilities.
This is the first year for Ardmore’s team, which was started by Sparkman.
“I want them to feel they can do anything they set their mind to,” Sparkman said. “It’s important to do this for them so that they feel included in the community. Just because they have a disability does not mean they have limitations of what they can do.”
When the final seconds ticked off the clock, it didn’t matter what the score on the scoreboard was. The smile on the faces of all the athletes said it all.
They were all winners.

Welcome Back! We hope everyone enjoyed their time in the snow this weekend. Because of improved conditions, Limestone County Schools will operate as normal Monday, January 13, 2025.

While school-issued devices are being sent home with students this afternoon, these will only be used if e-learning is necessary for early next week. We will continue to monitor weather conditions throughout the weekend and will make another announcement Sunday evening if needed.

Several students in the Teaching and Training program at Limestone County Career Tech visited our Early Learning Academy this morning to lead several fun, hands-on activities.
Earlier this fall, Limestone County Schools implemented the Early Learning Academy, an employee childcare program. It's located on the campus of Piney Chapel. The goal is not only to provide affordable childcare for our employees, but to help with recruitment and retention efforts as well.
